Verification portal

How anyone can confirm that a document issued through YourProDesk is genuine — and what it shows at each step.

Overview

The portal at verify.yourprodesk.com is public: recipients don't need an account to check a document. Every protected document carries two things that make it checkable:

  • a document ID and a 6-character verification code in its watermark, and
  • a QR code that opens the portal with the document ID already filled in.

Verifying a document

  1. Scan the QR code on the document, or open verify.yourprodesk.com and enter the document ID.
  2. Enter the verification code printed on the document — the check starts as soon as all six characters are entered.
  3. A genuine document shows “Verified by YourProDesk” with its details.

What the result shows

Document name and statusWhether it is active, signed or expired.
Issued and expiry datesWhen it was issued and until when it is valid.
Blockchain recordThe transaction ID and whether the blockchain confirms the document's fingerprint.
Watermarked copyView or download the official watermarked version, if the owner made it available.

If the ID and code don't match, the portal says so — the document may have been mistyped, or it was not issued through YourProDesk.

Private documents

For a private document the portal confirms it exists but asks for an access code before showing or downloading it. The owner gives that code to the people who should see it, or sends a share link.

Detailed verification

If the owner has enabled it, a recipient can request the full details by entering their email address. They receive a link (valid for a limited time) showing:

  • the sender's email address,
  • the document's fingerprints (SHA-256 hashes) of both the original and the watermarked version, and
  • the blockchain transaction and verification code.

The owner sees who requested details and when.

Access to the original

Recipients normally only get the watermarked copy. The owner can grant a named person access to the clean original: that person gets an email link and must sign in to YourProDesk to download it. The owner can revoke access at any time, and old links stop working immediately.

Tamper detection

Have a PDF and want to know if it was changed? Upload it on the portal's Tamper Detection section (a free YourProDesk account is required). The file is fingerprinted and compared with the original record and the blockchain:

AuthenticThe file is exactly the document that was issued.
AlteredThe file carries a YourProDesk signature but its content has changed since it was issued.
Not issued by YourProDeskThe file has no Credible Documents signature — it may never have been issued through YourProDesk.

For PDFs sold through Distribution the result depends on who checks: buyers see their own order, the seller sees who bought it, and anyone else sees only whether the copy is genuine.

What the blockchain proves

YourProDesk records each protected document's SHA-256 fingerprint and timestamp on a Hyperledger Fabric ledger. A fingerprint is a short code computed from the file: change a single character and the fingerprint changes completely, and it can't be turned back into the document. The ledger can't be edited afterwards — not even by YourProDesk — so a matching record proves the document existed in exactly this form on that date.

No document content and no personal data are written to the blockchain; for sold PDFs only a scrambled (hashed) form of the buyer's email is stored.

For document owners

  • Leave the QR code and verification code visible on the document — that's what recipients use.
  • Use private plus an access code for confidential documents.
  • Turn on detailed verification when recipients need to see who issued the document.
  • Grant original access only to specific people, and revoke it when no longer needed.
  • Developers can verify documents through the API — see API & webhooks.
